The Directorate of Research was incepted at the time of the establishment of the Dow University of Health Sciences to promote research and innovation within the university. Whereas, the Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization was established in 2011 and it continues to capitalize on the future, aiding research advances to sustain Dow University’s reputation as a distinguished public university.

Background:

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by the member countries of the United Nations in 2015, provides a roadmap not only for action, advocacy and partnership but also functions as a compass to make sure that no one is left behind in reaching peace and prosperity including population health and wellbeing of people and the planet. Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) are now seven years on, and we as a nation have more work to do than ever to catch up with the lag.

About the Conference:

Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC) and School of Public Health (SPH), Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) hosted a three-day (21st to 23rd December 2021) international conference focusing on SDGs for population health and wellbeing in achieving the set targets set by the United Nations. International and national academic scholars, SDGs experts from governmental and international organizations, and stakeholders were invited as keynote speakers. This conference also provided opportunities for young researchers worldwide to display their research projects and develop research skills in pre-conference workshops.
